Jes Gearing is a Lynchburg-based marketing consultant, graphic designer, writer, and photographer. She first photographed food for her blog, Eating Appalachia, in 2007 and, over the years, began to be approached by various restaurants and media outlets for both print and online publication. In 2011, she earned her MFA in Creative Writing from Hollins University.
Clients include: The Landing Restaurant & Bruno’s Gastropub, City of Roanoke, Eddy Communications, The Roanoker, Local Palate, Local Quarterly, and Blue Ridge Outdoors, among others.
When not at a restaurant or festival taking photographs, Jes enjoys cycling the Blue Ridge Parkway, traveling across the US (and world) to go to indie rock shows, and organizing events for Triage Marketing, a group for marketing professionals in the Roanoke/NRV area.
