Specializing in local government, utilities, construction projects, and economic development, Jes Gearing is a seasoned strategic communications professional with an emphasis on creative and efficient project management. Since joining Lynchburg Water Resources in 2017, she has built an extremely successful public relations program focused on both water/wastewater/stormwater education and capital investment/special projects.

After the August 2018 College Lake Dam crisis, she earned certification in Crisis Communication and has spearheaded the City’s crisis communications planning process. Additionally, she is the PIO responsible all communications associated with the joint Appalachian Power-City of Lynchburg Main Street Renewal Project, a $17M investment by both organizations into downtown Lynchburg’s underground infrastructure.

Additionally, as a freelance marketing consultant, graphic designer, website designer, and writer, Jes’ clients have included the City of Roanoke, 434 Marketing, Eddy Alexander, Visit Spartanburg, LifeOutside, The Landing Restaurant & Bruno’s Gastropub, The Roanoker, Local Palate, Blue Ridge Country, Local Quarterly, and Blue Ridge Outdoors, among others.

When not designing a public outreach campaign or troubleshooting construction projects, you can find her pedaling countless miles on her road or mountain bike in central and southwest Virginia.
